I need your help in choosing the cover for my new novel, Boyfriend From Hell. To entice you into helping me, I am giving away some awesome swag. The contest is easy. All you need to do to qualify is look at the three covers below and tell me in the comments section which of the three covers you like best. Easy Peasy:
Cover #1
Cover #2
Cover #3
Here's an idea of what the book is about:
Have you ever had a boyfriend from hell?
You know the kind: guy who messes with your life so much he turns it into Swiss cheese. Or maybe he was the guy who followed you home like a lost puppy, then turned into the pit bull you couldn't get rid of, no matter how hard you tried. Or maybe he was abusive.
I'm sure we've all had a bad boyfriend or two (or girlfriend in my case). My new novel, Boyfriend From Hell, is about a boyfriend from hell--literally. It's a YA paranormal like Never Slow Dance With A Zombie, but I've cut back on the comedy a bit in this one. It's the story of Megan Barnett, the fifteen year-old daughter of a 39 year-old single mom, Suze. When Suze decides it's time she had a man in her life, Megan is not happy. With good reason:
"First off, if anyone in my family should be dating, it should be me. I'm primo dating age here. How's it going to look if my mother has a boyfriend and I don't?" So Megan and Suze both set out to meet boyfriends. That's when all hell breaks loose.

I like Cover #1 the best, hands down!
ReplyDeleteMy email: pianolady_62@yahoo.com
I liked to cover 1 and 2, but the 1 is better XD It's a funny cover.
ReplyDeleteI like cover 1. It is different from what is out there, and it makes me look twice at it.
ReplyDeletetwoofakind12@yahoo.com
I like cover 2 the best. I tend to overlook books with cartoon covers when I am searching for a new one.

Hi E!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by! My post is up for your cover contest. Love all the covers... which one will win??
Dottie :)
Hey E,
ReplyDeleteI'm generally not a fan of people/photos on covers of books. It always makes me think of Harlequin romance novels or "based on the major motion picture" books. I think #1 is clever and catchy, and it's a great incorporation of the title font. :)
Good luck picking one. They'll all be great!
Oh yeah:
samantha[dot]elliott[at]gmail[dot]com
Hello!
ReplyDeleteMy choice is number 1. If the bit has some comedy to it, I think cover 1 is a bit light-hearted compared to the other two.
Thanks,
Tracey D

I like #2 cover best !
ReplyDeleteraluk.93 (at) gmail (dot) com
I like cover #2 the best. Tore923@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI think cover #1 is really clever.

I pick number 1. I think it's the most unique and seems fun and interesting.
ReplyDelete-Lauren
I pick number 1 as well! It's funny and stands out. I like number 2 too, but number 1 is more unique!
ReplyDeleteyavampire(at)hotmail.com
I like cover #1.
ReplyDeleteIt has a modern look with the different similes, and shows out of all the guys Megan could have picked from she chooses hell-boy. (Who couldn't relate?)
Plus, I like the 'e' is a pitchfork.

Hi E. I am all for number 1.
ReplyDeleteBook #1
Makes me think that the book will be a good lighthearted take on boyfriend type relationships. I chuckled at the cover because I even recognized a couple of my old boyfriends in the different cartoon expressed faces.
Book #2
This cover did strike me because of the beautiful, yet piercing darkness of his eyes. It made me think of the boyfriend as "evil", and the book as a possible heavy read for a teen. (If indeed he is evil in the book, then message well taken);-)
Book#3
Nice looking couple, but I saw it, and immediately got the impression that the couple in this book is having relations. Being that I am a mother to a teenager, I would not buy the book soley based on the cover, fearing that it may be too much for my young/mid teen.
Bottom line for me: All 3 covers can work, depending on your target audience. I love #1 best, because there are no real people on the cover, so 'anyone' can pick up the book and identify with just the title, and cartoon facial expressions alone. Then WE get to picture our own crummy ex boyfriends from hell, in those faces, lol. Good Luck! Lynette J. (Lyn870@gmail.com)
Hey man,
ReplyDelete#1 is my favorite!
Hi E!
ReplyDeleteI think cover number one is the best!!! I can't wait to read it.

Cover #1! FOr sure - it is quirky enough and relevant! I love it!
ReplyDeleteapereiraorama[at]gmail[dot]com
Cover 1 is definitely the best. It'll stand out much more on a shelf and us easier to remember.
ReplyDeleteI like Cover 2 alot and I think it would be cool to have a little pitchfork for the pupil of his eye. Maybe a red one. :)
ReplyDeletelisadgibson(at)live(dot)com
Lisa ~ YA Literature Lover
Cover 1 pops the most, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteDoni
I definitely like cover choice #1. I like the notion of teen doodles and they are humorous and contemporary as well. I am not a fan of the usage of random photos of gorgeous people on book covers. It's done a lot and the titles don't individually pop.
ReplyDelete#1 would make me want to take a look at it if I were browsing through a bookstore. The others I would ignore.
ReplyDeleteThe first cover is definitely my choice - it's different enough to stick out from the crowd.
ReplyDeleteWow. I feel a little weird here, but I'm going to say #3.
ReplyDeleteArcadiaWearsPrada[at]yahoo[dot]com
I prefer #1. Of the three covers #1 is the most interesting.
ReplyDeleteCovers 2 and 3 don't really shout "boyfriend from hell."
But if the target audience is more ya prn/urban fantasy versus just ya the covers generally tend to have faces/people versus drawings.
Congrats on your upcoming new release!
fiktshun[at]gmail[dot]com
100% #1 Thanks!
ReplyDeleteareadingnook[at]yahoo[dot]com
Two is so hot, that's my choice! I see #1 is popular, I just don't see it. :/
ReplyDeleteCover #1 is the best in my opinion, the guy for #2 is hot though!
ReplyDeleteI like cover #2 best. There's something edgy and mysterious about the eyes.
ReplyDeleteun3xpectedfate [at] hotmail [dot] com
#1 is the only one that I would be drawn to based on cover alone. I love it!!
ReplyDeletebasicallyamazingbooks [at] gmail.com
I like #1 the best!!
ReplyDeletebabblingbookworm@hotmail.com
I like #1! It's cute and intriguing, and it relates most to the description. Love it!
ReplyDeletelookaftermyheart1901(at)gmail(dot)com
I love Cover #1!
ReplyDeleteTaraTagli at gmail dot com
#1 is fun but I think #2 is better.

My favorite is number one!
ReplyDeletealexreadsbooks at gmail dot com
I like the first cover best.....The other covers are fine but they're a bit over dramatic - of course, over dramatic is good for teens. :)
ReplyDeleteI like Cover 1, it's the most obvious boyfriend from hell. And it's funny, yet simple :)
ReplyDeleteAmbur
ambiepie_6(at)hotmail(dot)com
I like cover #1 as well!
ReplyDeletechibipooh(at)gmail(dot)com
Definitely cover #1!!
ReplyDeleteIt stands out as compared to the others and it goes with the summary you gave... so its the obvious choice! =)
storm_kalro@yahoo.co.in
i like #3!
ReplyDeleteCover #1 stands out and will definitely catch my eye when in a bookstore. It also fits better with the description. Cover #2 and #3 will get lost in the sea of similar covers out there.
ReplyDeleteI love 3 but I think 1 is the best!!

ReplyDeleteDefinitely the first one, its eye catching, the use of colour, red and white really stands out and also to let the readers know that the book got a sense of humor and not a really serious book
ReplyDelete( alvin _ darmawan at hotmail dot com )
The one I like the most is cover #1
ReplyDeleteIt is original and looks way muuuuuch better than the other ones
tsubasaikeda[at]gmail[dot]com
Cover #1 is the best for me. It's funny. I don't like covers #2 and #3 because it makes me think of harlequin books.
ReplyDeletemaniezkelly@gmail.com
COver 3 might have worked minus the arrow thingy.
ReplyDeleteFor me, cover 1 is the best! It looks so light and funny. :)
precious_shusky@yahoo.com
Oh dear, I don't like any of them! The first one looks childish, the second one looks unprofessional and the in the third you can barely see the people. If I saw any of these covers I would pick it up off a shelf. If it was edited a bit, I'd say the second one! :/
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of either :/ im sorry! If I had to pick one I would say the 1st, but if I was going on cover alone, I would probably skip over them!
ReplyDeletehense1kk AT cmich DOT edu
Honestly, I don't really care for any of them. If I had to choose, I'd go with #1
ReplyDeletefindjessyhere at gmail dot com
I'd have to say number 3. If this is a more serious book, 1 looks too cheesy to me. 2 would be my second choice.
ReplyDeleteme at kearytaylor dot com
Cover#2
ReplyDeleteThose eyes! angel or demon!
karenthaeter@hotmail.com
Cover #1 is my favorite
ReplyDeleteEce_red@hotmail.com
I like cover #1: it's the most eye-catching and interesting, especially if the book is going to have humor.
ReplyDeletespamscape [at] gmail [dot] com
Definitely #2. Good looks can be deceiving, right?!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!

Hi, stopping by from Eleni @ La Femme Readers blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI think for a YA book, #1 is the best cover for your book. It's cute and doesn't make it look too serious like the other two would. I like the other two book covers, but I think #1 would be great for YA.
I'm going to add Boyfriend from Hell to my Goodreads. It sounds really good. :)

Cover 1, definitely.

I really like Cover#1, I find it funny =)
ReplyDeletepisisbook[at]hotmail[dot]fr
I like #1 it is very different from what is out now. It really stands out IMO!!
ReplyDeleteakascrapaholic [at] gmail [dot] com
Yep, number one stands out.
ReplyDeleteI love Cover #1!
ReplyDeletediznypixie@hotmail.com
cover #1 looks awesome!! :)
ReplyDeleteLhong522@hotmail.com
I would definitely buy cover 1!
ReplyDeletesomithee at gmail dot com
Cover 1 is the best! The text and picture placement on the other two aren't very eye catching, but 1 has humor to it that is captivating!
ReplyDeleteeliweibley(at)gmail(dot)com
It's cool you're letting your followers help! Being a part of history is always awesome!
I like Cover #1.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely cover #1, I'm lovin' the pitch fork! ;)
ReplyDeletelinaramz at yahoo dot com
I would pick up #1 first. Two is good, but I think #1 is more fun!
